On June 26th 2018, Phoenix Gymnastics officially launched our fundraising campaign with a wonderful event at Dorney Lake in Eton. It was a wonderfully warm summers evening and around 50 guests enjoyed prosecco and canapes whilst looking out over Dorney Lake's beautiful views.
This was the perfect opportunity, not just to launch our campaign but also to introduce the club to potential new donors and supporters. Many 'voices of Phoenix' were in attendance, and although our Patron - the lovely Gabby Logan - couldn't be with us due to a scheduling clash (there was a rather large football tournament going on at the time!), she sent a wonderful message of support to be played at the event. If you'd like to watch Gabby's video message, visit our fundraising page!
Speaking on the night we had Cathy Rouse, our CEO, AL Thornton chair of trustees, Kier Singleton from Harwood Hutton, Phil Rowe and some of our fantastic coaches, to really give an all round feeling of Phoenix's ethos and spirit.
Some of our squad gymnasts also came along and performed a showcase dance for the guests, to the very appropriately titled 'Million Dreams' from The Greatest Showman.
The whole evening was a resounding success, with £3,250 raised from the auction alone, which was run by Trevor Kent who also MC’d the event. We would like to say a huge thank you to the following sponsors of auction prizes:
White Oak Finance
Stella Donague and Jim O’Donovan
Quest End, Maidenhead
With lots of new relationships forged and exciting plans discussed, we would also like to thank all of our wonderful guests for coming, and all of our supporters near and far for getting us this far - a beautiful new facility is now in sight!
